In the Past
Ok thought I would let you see some of my past projects.
Here is the Hemlock Ring Blanket I made for my dad.

So the knitting continued, that is to say I would be finished except I have had to rip it out twice now. The first time, I ended up with not enough stitches to do the decreasing, the second time I was almost binding off and I noticed I had too many holes on one piece. Trouble is I wasn’t counting as I went, just merrily doing YO K1 till I got to the right number left for the decreasing bit. I think what I did was do some YO extra on the rows where it was maybe a knit stitch before the decreasing….what a pain. It was almost done. I think I am in to much of a hurry.
It was well worth the effort, although I must admit that as the middle piece is different yarn it didn’t block the same. so the blanket was bowed in the middle. Mind you it means the knees fit in the middle bit lovely. Dad is certainly pleased with it. The pattern is by Jerrod Flood. You can take a look at his Blog http://brooklyntweed.blogspot.com/2007/08/hemlock-ring-blanket.html where it is available, and I must say that the yarn he uses is much better than my el cheapo stuff. This is the biggest project I have ever tried, and finished! so was pleased.
First Toe UP Socks
I did a pair of socks for my Mum as I have knitted two pairs for dad and he loves them….so thought I would do mum a pair. The yarn was Rowan Botany in a beige colour (will go with anything).

They are my first attempt at toe up socks, and I was really pleased with them. I did the cast off in the instructions, but it looks baggy while off the foot. I am toying with changing it, but time is running short till I go to the UK. The design is called Wheat Stalkings designed by Ali Green and is a free design on Ravelry.com. I think I actually prefer doing socks the other way from the top down, I prefer the heel shaping done that way.
