great book, easy to use![]()
this is a great book for beginners, with really clear pictures and explanations and easy to follow instructions. and much more fun than making squares!
Lovely book for semi newbies![]()
Having got my basic skills from Happy Hooker (outstanding instructions) this book gives you plenty scope for some seriously cute animals, which you can finish in a couple of hours (pros probably go a bit quicker). Once you’ve got the hang of a few basic stiches (mainly crocheting rounds and increasing and decreasing), it’s just a question of selecting some lovely yarn and going for it.
The book is American (as is Happy Hooker) so some UK crocheters may struggle with having to convert between the different terminology for stitches. I found it okay as I don’t know the UK system anyway and all the funky amigurmi books seem to be American.

Thanks to Francine Toukou, these sophisticated patterns have a distinctively urban edge, sassy design aesthetic, and imaginative use of colour. Stitchers of every level will want to grab their hooks and dive into such fashionable projects as a lovely pink mohair neck wrap with frilly, feminine edges; a snuggly brown scarf, worked in chunky wool and featuring flower attachments along its length; and a fabulous elongated clutch with a snap closure and decorative medallion. In addition to the basic stitches, Toukou offers invaluable advice on working with budget yarns and mastering special skills, including tassel-making, felting, and applique.
